The cars intended for the race series were retained prepared by Jaguar Sport and brought to the races for the customers. Run at Monaco, Silverstone and Spa, the series saw some of the best known sports car racers of the day go head to head. Eventually the $1 million championship trophy was won by Armin Hahne.
The Jaguar Sport Intercontinental Challenge was cancelled after just one season and the proposed GT series never emerged. As a result, the XJR-15's racing career was limited to just three events. It is uncertain if the production run of 50 cars was actually completed. In addition to the 'standard' road cars a further five examples with seven-litre engines were built for the Japanese market.
Just like the XJ220, the XJR-15 road/racing car was not a commercial success. This despite its staggering racing car inspired performance. Today, the XJR-15 is largely forgotten and as a result both the competition and road going version provide superb value for money. The newly established Global Endurance Legends offers a perfect place to exercise the cars. << Prev Page 2 of 2
