Jerry Grant used these to great effect by setting the first ever 200 mph+ qualifying lap and Bobby Unser later set a new World Closed-Course Speed Record at 201.414 mph. At the end of the year, the the Eagle 7200 had set seven poles and nine new track records.

For 1973, a revised 7300 was constructed, which was very similar to the 7200 with updated suspension components as used by Grant at Ontario. In addition to the 28 cars built to 7200 specification, a further 6 cars were built as 7300s. It proved a disastrous season as the new found speeds led to several fatal accidents with both Art Pollard and Swede Savage losing their lives at the Indy 500 in Eagles. A small consolation was provided by Gordon Johncock winning the race in a privately entered Eagle 7200.

New regulations were introduced for the 1974 season, sensibly intended to slow the cars down. While the existing cars could be adapted to suit the rule changes, and many customer cars were, the works team set about creating a bespoke car, the 7400, for the new year. With it All American Racers continued on the path of success set in by the supremely fast Eagle 7200s and 7300s. Many of the customer cars continued to be raced for several more years and some even into the 1980s.

Undoubtedly the fastest car of the two-year 'unlimited' era, Slobodynskyj's first complete design for All American Racers remains as one the very best cars produced by the Santa Ana based team and one of the all-time great Indy cars.
