During the remainder of the season, the T90 was campaigned in the USAC Championship, predominantly with Al Unser at the wheel. He managed to finish second on three more outings but no further victories were scored in 1966. Unser ended the year fifth in the standings; some of the 1260 points scored were also with other cars.

Mild modifications were made to the cockpit surround and engine cover for the 1967 season. Lola dubbed the newly built cars the T92 but the USAC officials felt the changes were not sufficient to actually apply a new type name, so it was referred to as the T90 MkII instead. Al Unser raced the T92 for the entire championship but again could do no better than 2nd on five occasions, including at the Indy 500. He was joined there by Jackie Stewart but he was forced to retire with an engine issue.

A brand new Indy racer was produced by Lola for the 1968 and the British manufacturer continued to compete in the sport for several more decades with considerable success. It is believed five T90/T92s were built and at least three survive. Sadly, the Hill's 1966 Indy 500 winner did not. In more recent years, former Lola owner, the late Martin Birrane, had a replica built, which he owned alongside one of the T92s.
