Chassis: GT40P/1047
Built for the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans, chassis 1047 was driven by Dan Gurney and Jerry Grant. They started from pole but failed to reach the finish due to a holed radiator. The car was brought out again for the Daytona 24 Hours where it again topped qualifying but this time engine failure ended the race early. Updated to Mk IIB specification, it was entered at Le Mans for a second year running only to crash out. For reasons unknown one of the sister cars (1031) was renumbered 1047 and raced for the remainder of the season but this was a different car. The original chassis 1047 eventually ended up in Japan and has recently been completely restored.
