Finished in 'Marlboro white', this McLaren F1 was sold new to Japanese enthusiast Shin Okamoto. He added the car to a collection that also included rare machinery like a Ferrari F50 GT but only very rarely used the McLaren. By the time he sold it, in 2010, it had not yet covered 1,000 miles. Prior to the sale, it had been completely serviced by McLaren. Since then, it has changed hands only once more and still has just 1,000 miles on the odometer. The most recent owner has had black wheels, sourced from McLaren, fitted in place of the original silver alloys. It was then consigned to the 2014 Gooding Pebble Beach auction where this highly original McLaren was estimated to sell for in excess of $12 million. The bidding reached $10.75 million, which was not enough to pry it from the owner's hands.
