Chassis:
The very last 250 GT SWB built, this steel bodied example was completed early in 1963. Finished in dark blue, it was sold to North America through US distributor Luigi Chinetti, who immediately shipped the car to the Otto Zipper dealership on the west coast. Here it was sold to its first private owner, Hastings Harcourt. Soon after, it was sold to Chris Cord and passing through several hands, it remained in the Los Angeles area until the early 1980s by which time it was painted red. In 1982, it was put up for sale for $90,000 and subsequently bought by French collector Antoine Midy. He showed and campaigned the car at a variety of events until he had it restored during the early 2000s. At this time, it was also re-painted dark blue. Chassis 4065GT was then campaigned at just a handful events until Midy's passing in 2007. From his estate, the very last 250 GT SWB was consigned to the 2016 Artcurial Retromobile Sale. Although no buyers were found during the auction, it did sell shortly after the sale to a European collector for Euro 8.1 million.
