Chassis:
This 904 GTS Carrera was delivered new to long-time Chaparral partners Jim Hall and Hap Sharp. Through them, the car passed to Burdette Martin soon after. He was a seasoned Hot Rodder and, in 1965, became the chief steward of the SCCA. Hall, Sharp and Martin never actually raced the Porsche but it there is a strong suspicion that its novel fibreglass construction was carefully examined by members of the American automobile industry. In 1972, it was acquired by Leonard Turner from Atlanta, Georgia. Turner carefully preserved the Porsche and retained it for four decades, showing it at events only very rarely. In the early 2010s, it was eventually sold back to Germany. Chassis 904-050 is in remarkably original condition, having covered only 17,000 miles. In 2016, it was presented by Axel Schuette at Retromobile where it was one of the absolute stars.
