It is quite the Ferrari Friday today as all three international auction houses announced headlining Ferraris for the upcoming Monterey auctions. The most valuable of the trio is this achingly beautiful Ferrari 412 P to be offered by Bonhams in their Quail Lodge sale. One of two built for the 1967 World Sports Car Championship, this four-litre engined machine was sold new to Maranello Concessionaires and still wears the team's striking colours today. Raced extensively in period, it was later owned by many prominent collectors before joining the current stable in 2005. Arguably the most important Ferrari sports car offered during the last five years, 0854 should command a hefty eight-figure bid to pry it away from the current custodian.
It should be closely matched by this 250 LM, which headlines the RM Sotheby's Monterey sale. Raced extensively in period, including appearances at Daytona and Le Mans, it has more recently been meticulously restored and fully Ferrari Classiche certified. Having had just two owners in the last quarter of a century, 6053 has a pre-sale estimate of $18 - $20 million.
The Gooding Pebble Beach Auctions includes this highly original 250 GT SWB Berlinetta. Sold new to an Italian industrialist, it has been cherished throughout its life by its four owners. Beautifully patinated, the metallic grey 250 GT SWB has covered 53,000 km from new. An original example is exceedingly rare and the estimate of $9 - $11 million for 3507GT reflects this.
