Page 1 of 1 This is the Brabham BT55, as raced in the 1986 F1 season. To decrease the frontal area for higher straight line speed and a better airflow over the rear wing Brabham tried to keep the BT55 as low as possible. They did that by inclining the straight 4 BMW Turbo engine at 72 degrees, the engine however didn't like this. To add to that, the seven speed gearbox didn't work well either. This was a miserable year for Brabham, with only 2 sixth places for Patrese. The BT55 was so bad that Brabham started using the 1985 BT54 halfway through the season. Page 1 of 1
