Page 1 of 1 Shortly after Porsche introduced the 993-generation 911, RUF followed up with the BTR2. Derived from the 911 Carrera model, it was the second generation of the BTR, which was short for (Gruppe B Turbo RUF).
As per the type name, the most important work was done on the air-cooled engine. A single turbocharger was fitted, which raised the power to 414 bhp. Unlike the four-wheel driver Porsche 911 Turbo that followed later on, the BTR2 came with rear-wheel drive only. Like the model it was based on, the new Ruf also featured a six-speed manual gearbox.
The BTR2 exterior featured a very subtle bodykit that consisted of small spoilers on the front corners and a whale-tail wing on the engine cover. Tucked in the narrow-body were special Ruf alloy wheels. Each BTR2 was finished to the specific demands of the customer and the interior options included a full roll cage and special bucket seats.
Ruf offered the BTR2 throughout the 993-generation's lifetime, so from 1993 to 1998. It is believed that only ten examples were produced, although some sources suggest as few as nine or as many as thirteen. Page 1 of 1
