Chassis:
The second F3L built, this is the car crashed heavily by Chris Irwin in practice at the Nürburgring. The remains were returned to Alan Mann Racing and not rebuilt in period. Many years later Len Bailey took control of the wreckage and had David Piper restore the car to full running order. Some minor tweaks were made in the process to make the car more drivable. Piper subsequently campaigned the F3L in historic events. During the 2000s, the late Alan Mann bought the rebuilt car back from Piper. Upon taking delivery he entrusted the car to former Alan Mann Racing chief mechanic Brian Lewis to restore the F3L once more. It has since been raced and demonstrated at various events including the Silverstone Classic, Goodwood Festival of Speed and the Goodwood Revival. In 2014, the car joined the stable of a Switzerland based historic racer. He had the car carefully restored again, ensuring the monocoque was up to par while retaining the patina built up over the years. After a first outing at the 2016 Retromobile show, it was then raced in the Peter Auto events.
