Chassis:
This is the first of three brand new 250 GTOs built ahead of the 1964 season. It was entrusted to Luigi Chinetti's NART team, who entered it that year in many of the major endurance races. It was driven to an outright win in the inaugural sports car race at Daytona by Phil Hill and Pedro Rodriguez. The latter was joined by David Piper and Mike Gammino II at Sebring where 5571GT was placed 7th overall and 1st in class. Retired from contemporary racing at the end of the season, it has since passed through the hands of noted collectors like Paul Pappalardo, Albert Obrist and Bernie Ecclestone.
The current owner acquired the car in 1997 and has since used it extensively. It is seen here during the 2009 Quail, a Motorsports Gathering where Daytona was one of the themes, at Pebble Beach in 2011 where the 250 GTO's 50th anniversary celebrations kicked off early and finally during the 2012 Le Mans Classic, which featured a parade of GTOs as part of the very exclusive GTO Tour.
