Chassis:
The fifth and final 'Experimental Prototype' built, chassis XP5 was famously used by Andy Wallace to set a world top speed record for a production car. In April of 1998, the 1988 Le Mans winner reached a speed of 391 km/h (243 mph) with the limiter removed. Although the record has since been broken, this remains as the fastest run for an atmospheric engined production car. The historic car has been retained by McLaren and is only rarely seen in public. One such occasion was the 2011 Goodwood Press Day where the new MP4-12C made its public debut.
