Chassis:
Following its historic victory, the Le Mans winning 787B was immediately retired to the Mazda Museum. It was replaced by a new car built on a spare chassis. This 787B was fielded four more times that year; in three All Japan Sports Prototype Championship races and in the Autopolis round of the World Championship. The best result was a third in the Fuji 1000 km in the hands of David Kennedy and Takashi Yorino. Retained by Mazda, chassis 003 has been beautifully maintained and in 2013 was brought to the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca for the Monterey Motorsports Reunion where it was raced by Le Mans legend Yojiro Terada.
