Chassis:
The second of two Ferrari 158s built, chassis 0006 was used by John Surtees from the 1964 Monaco Grand Prix. He finished second and later in the year scored a clean sweep (pole position, fastest lap and victory) in the Italian Grand Prix at Monza. It was used extensively in 1965 as well but it could do no better than fourth. Among the drivers that year were Surtees, Lorenzo Bandini and Pedro Rodriguez. With a Grand Prix victory, chassis 0006 contributed considerably to making Surtees the first and to date only World Champion on two and four wheels.
Unlike many of Ferrari's earlier Grand Prix cars, it was not scrapped and eventually ended up in the massive Jacques Setton Collection together with many other fantastic Grand Prix cars. Today it is part of an American collection and is on display in the museum at the Barber Motorsports park. The sole surviving 158 F1 has been brought back to Europe on several occasions for demonstration runs at the Goodwood Festival of Speed and Revival Meetings, usually with the late John Surtees behind the wheel.
