Chassis:
Ordered new by American entrant Ron Spangler, this 512 BB LM was ready in time for the 1981 Daytona 24 Hours. Spangler's Prancing Horse Farms Racing team was fielded for Tony Adamowicz and Rick Knoop. Unfortunately, an accident cut the effort short. Not raced again in 1981, it was entered by Prancing Horse Farm Racing at Daytona in 1982 and 1983, and at Sebring in 1982 but at each occasion, chassis 34445 failed to reach the finish. Retired from contemporary racing, it was sold to fellow American Bruce Vineyard in 1984. He would go on to retain the car through to the early 2000s during which time, it was beautifully preserved and shown at select events. The next custodian was American historic racer John Goodman, who raced the car on both sides of the Atlantic. Following a brief spell in French hands, it is now part of the formidable collection of a German historic racer.
