Chassis:
The rolling chassis of this C-3 was completed in April of 1952 and sent to Vignale in Italy. It returned in September of that year and was retained by Cunningham as a factory demonstrator. As a result, it appears in various contemporary magazines. In 1953, it was eventually sold to Edmond DuPont. He retained the car until 1960 when it was acquired by a hot-rodding club. During this period the bumpers and original seats were removed and the car was repainted in the American racing colours. Following a succession of owners, chassis 5210 passed into the hands of A. Vail Frost in 1975. He would go on to own the rare Cunningham for many years and between 2002 and 2004 had it completely restored by White Post Restorations in Virginia. Upon completion, it was shown at many major events before it was acquired by the current owner in 2007. He has now consigned it to Gooding's January 17th Scottsdale auction. The estimate is $450,000 - $550,000.
