Chassis:
Chassis 5226 arrived back from its sojourn to Vignale in Italy in March of 1953 and following final assembly and a tune-up was delivered new to its first owner in May. This was Kansas oil magnate, amateur racing and Indy car team owner Jack B. Hinkle. He owned the car for four years and in subsequent years it was lost from the radar until it reappeared in the Volo Museum during the early 1980s. The Cunningham was submitted to a complete restoration, which lasted as much eight years. Upon completion of the work, the car was shown at the Hershey meet in 1993 where it won the coveted AACA National First Prize. Chassis 5226 was then displayed for many years in the museum until it was eventually sold in 2006.
