Chassis:
The very first Sauber C9 built, this car made its debut at the Silverstone 1000 km in 1987 with Mike Thackwell and Henri Pescarolo at the wheel. It started second on the grid but a suspension failure prevented it from reaching the finish. It would continue to be used well into the 1988 season, when it served mainly as one of the team's spare cars. Although it did not score a major victory, it was driven to several German Supercup wins by Jean-Louis Schlesser in 1988. It was last raced at Sandown in November of 1988 when it finished second in the hands of Mauro Baldi and Stefan Johansson. Retained by Peter Sauber, it is seen here sporting a 1989 livery at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show.
