Chassis:
A Ferrari works car for the 1950 season, chassis 0040M made its unsuccessful debut in the Targa Florio, driven by Luigi Villoresi. At the following month's Mille Miglia, it was fatally crashed and once repaired ran off the road again later in the year. The car was then returned to Touring for a new Barchetta body. Ferrari soon after sold the car to a Portuguese gentleman racer. Since 1989, it has been in the same, British hands and has been extensively campaigned at a wide variety of historic events.
