Chassis: 1461GT
Clothed by Scaglietti, this is the second 250 GT Interim built. It was entrusted to Luigi Chinetti's North American Racing Team, who fielded it in the 24 Hours of Le Mans for Andre Pilette and George Arents. Despite some small problems, it nevertheless finished fourth overall and second in class. Chassis 1461GT was not so fortunate at the subsequent Tour de France where a heavy crash ended its racing career early. A substantial rebuild was required and the car was updated with revised shock absorbers, disc brakes and a 250 TR engine block. In 1962, it was sold to the United States where it remained until it was acquired by the late Fabrizio Violati in 1979. It has since been part of the magnificent Maranello Rosso Collection.
