The penultimate long wheelbase Ferrari 250 GT competition car built, this Interim Berlinetta was sold new to French privateer Pierre Dumas. He immediately entered it along with five of the other six Interim Berlinettas in the Tour de France where he finished seventh. The car was subsequently upgraded with Dunlop disc brakes and extensively campaigned by Dumay and Fernand Tavaro with considerable success until September of the following year. During the 1960s, it was involved in a fatal accident but was completely repaired soon after. Following a lengthy American ownership and a brief spell back in Europe, it was acquired by the current owner in 2005, who showed it at several events in North America.
