Chassis:
Finished in the ever striking Laystall colours, this was the first right-hand driver 250 GTO. Intended to be raced by part-owner Stirling Moss but due to his career-ending crash at Goodwood, he never got to drive it. Instead it was raced by Masten Gregory and Innes Ireland for the UDT-Laystall team, with an outright victory in the Tourist Trophy at Goodwood for the latter as the best result. The following season, it was campaigned by a new Austrian owner, who had it re-painted red. Among the subsequent owners were noted collectors like the Harrison Brothers, Harry Leventis, Yoshino Matsuda and Eric Heerema. In 2012, it was acquired by the current custodian, who paid a reputed $35 million, which at the time was the highest price ever known to have been paid for a car.
