In 1974 the unique Boomerang was sold to a Spanish enthusiast, who had undoubtedly seen the Maserati on display at the Barcelona Motor Show. It disappeared from the limelight until it was spotted in Benidorm traffic by German businessman Bertold Ollman early in the 1980s. He chased the car but lost sight of it until he spotted it parked in front of a nightclub by chance. A Maserati enthusiast, he immediately recognised the one-off Boomerang for what it was and quickly acquired the car. During the 1980s, it was completely restored and returned to the road.
The work was finally completed in 1990 and the car was extensively shown at events around the world, including Pebble Beach. In 2002, it was sold at Christie's Retromobile auction to a Middle Eastern collection. The car was back in Paris three years later when it was offered again by Christie's and acquired by the current owner. In 2006, he drove the Boomerang over the road from Monaco to Como for the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este. The biggest problem he faced was going through the toll booths as the car does not have conventional windows.
