Chassis:
Acquired new by former fighter pilot and prominent English racer Richard 'Dickie' Stoop, this was the first Porsche 904 GTS to make it to the British Isles. It is believed to be the only 904 finished in this particular shade of 'Irish' green. Stoop raced the car for about a year, with the class victory at the 1964 Scott-Brown Memorial at Snetterton as the best result. He retained the car until his tragic death in a road accident, behind the wheel of a Porsche 911 S, in 1968. Chassis 904-045 was sold from Stoop's estate to noted American Porsche collector John Wean. He retained the car until well into the 1990s, when it joined the stable of Australian historic racer Peter Harburg. After owning the Porsche for 17 years, he sold at RM Auctions' inaugural Paris sale, in February of 2014. It has joined a British stable and has been comprehensively restored for racing by specialists Maxted-Page.
