Chassis:
Of the ten Fiat 8Vs clothed by Vignale, one was a convertible, while the other nine were coupes, each with unique design elements. Designed by Giovanni Michelotti, this particular example was completed in the summer of 1953. It was delivered new to a customer from Northern Italy. Remaining in its native country, a succession of owners extensively used the car and eventually the tired engine was replaced by a slightly later spare, which had been used in a sister car and had competed in the Mille Miglia. During the late 1990s, it was completely restored in Italy. Among chassis 000046's most striking features is the prominent chrome grille-surround, which is not found on all Vignale bodied 8Vs.
