Chassis:
The very first 225 S built and the first of six fitted by Vignale with a Berlinetta body, this example was sold new to Pierre Boncompagni, who raced under the pseudonym 'Pagnibon'. He raced the car with considerable success in local events throughout France. Ahead of the 1952 Monaco Grand Prix, a fresh engine was fitted and Pagnibon placed fifth overall behind several sister cars. He also raced the car at Le Mans where he failed to finish but did manage to clinch a second outright in the Tour de France. At the end of what was a highly successful season, chassis 0152EL was retired from contemporary racing. It subsequently ended up in Great Britain, while it was in Italian hands from 1975 until very recently. During this period, the original engine was reunited with the car.
