Chassis:
Only a handful of Fiat 8V chassis were sent off to be bodied by Vignale and of these just one was fitted with a Cabriolet body. Styled by Giovanni Michelotti, it was originally commissioned by a Sig. Leone but he never took delivery. Instead, chassis 000050 was sold upon completion to the United States. After most likely spending its early years in Florida, the unique Vignale Cabriolet disappeared until it was discovered by Don Williams in the Utah desert in the early 1990s. Its hard-to-service Fiat V8 was missing at the time but Williams managed to acquire a spare V8 and had the car meticulously restored. It was eventually sold to a European collection, from it which it will be offered by RM Sotheby's at Villa Erba on May 23rd.
