Chassis:
Delivered new to Count Paolo Marzotto, this 225 S was clothed by Vignale with a Spyder body. At Count Marzotto's specific request, the body was not finished with Vignale's trademark portholes or any chrome trim. He first raced the car in the Mille Miglia but failed to reach the finish. In the following months, he did score several outright victories in chassis 0172ET. It was then sold to Argentina, where it was fitted with a later 250 GT engine. During the late 1980s, it was repatriated to Italy and used in several editions of the Mille Miglia retrospective. In 1997, Franco Meiners acquired the car and re-united it with the original 225 S engine. It has since been in French and Dutch hands, until it was more recently bought by a German enthusiast. He visited Count Marzotto, who handed him all the trophies he won with 0172ET as the Count figured these belonged with the car.
