Chassis: JV6 C 291
The second XJR-16 completed, this car was first used at the Lime Rock round of the 1991 IMSA GT Championship, where Raul Boesel placed sixth overall. Run at select events during the season for Boesel, chassis 291 had three fourth place finishes as the best results, the third of which was actually scored with Martin Brundle behind the wheel. At the end of the 1991 season, the car was returned to Jaguar Racing in the United Kingdom, where it was converted to XJR-17 specification and fitted with a naturally aspirated engine. In this guise, the car was never raced in period but did see some outings in the Historic Group C Championship during the early 2000s. In more recent years, the car was acquired by the owner of the sister car, JV6 C 191, who set about completely restoring it to its original specification. To do so, he tracked down many of the original parts that had been removed to turn the car into the XJR-17 and were then used on other cars. The work was finally completed ahead of the 2015 Dix Mille Tours, where the owner entered both cars, which were seen in public together for the first time since the 1991 season. He had intended to use the practice sessions to shake down the newly restored JV6 C 291, and then race the sister car, but adverse weather conditions meant that he could only do a single lap with 291.
