Chassis:
Completed in August of 1955, this Zagato bodied 1900C SS was delivered new to legendary Italian cyclist Mario Binda. Like many of its contemporaries, the high performance Alfa Romeo was soon after sold to the United States. During the 1960s, the engine was damaged and the head and block were replaced with 2000 type parts. During the late 1980s, it joined the collection of noted Alfa Romeo enthusiast Said Marouf. He had the car completely restored by Paolo and Nino Epfani from Berkeley. Chassis 02056 was then shown at Pebble Beach in 1990 where it placed third in class. By the early 2000s, it was sold to The Netherlands and regularly campaigned and shown at events. In 2006, it was acquired by the late John J. Dalessandro, who promptly raced it in the Mille Miglia retrospective. It was sold from his estate by Bonhams during their 2009 Quail sale.
