Chassis:
One of a pair of a factory demonstrators, the other originally had registration number LB-RA-100, this CLK-GTR is understood not to be among the 25 eventual road cars sold to customers. Road registered LB-RA-204, this car was offered to select magazines for road tests and also appeared in factory brochures. In 1999, it was sold by AMG-founder Hans Werner Aufrecht's new company HWA to its first private owner. A close friend of Mr Aufrecht, the first owner had the car maintained and constantly upgraded by HWA during the following years. In 2001, the engine was enlarged to 7.3-litre, which raised the power to in excess of 700 bhp. With 12,500 on the odometer, it was consigned to the August 2003 Bonhams Old Timter Grand Prix sale, where it changed hands for just over Euro 800,000.
