Chassis:
One of the final batch of 911 Carrera RSRs built, this example benefited from the latest developments, which included relocated suspension arms and wider wheel arches. It was sold new to legendary Porsche dealer and entrant Vasek Polak. He fielded the car just once, in the 1976 Laguna Seca 100 Miles for Milt Minter. He qualified fifth but was forced to retire with mechanical issues after a mere 20 laps. Polak subsequently used the car for testing with the likes of Paul Newman and Porsche development engineer Mandred Jantke taking the wheel. The car was retained by Polak and spent the next twenty years in his private collection. From his estate, the very well preserved 911 Carrera RSR was acquired by Porsche collector Jeff Lewis in 1999. It was subsequently restored and prepared for historic racing. The subsequent owners have regularly campaigned the car on both sides of the Atlantic. In 2023, it was consigned to the Gooding Pebble Beach Auctions complete with an entry for the Porsche Rennsport Reunion scheduled for later in the year.
