Chassis:
The fifth of five lightweight chassis constructed by Alan Mann Racing for Ford, this chassis was one of three sent to Carroll Shelby to be built up as a big block engined Mk II. Tagged with chassis number XGT-3, it was shipped over for the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans where it served as a spare car and was not raced. After it had returned to the United States, it toured the country to celebrate the 1-2-3 Le Mans win of its sister cars. It also starred in commercials for Ford and Autolite spark plugs. As such, it was never raced in period and has been preserved in remarkably original condition. Chassis XGT-3 might very well be the most original of all surviving competition specifications in the world.
