Chassis:
Through American distributor Luigi Chinetti, this 250 GT SWB was sold to American pilot Horace A. Gray III. Although it was fitted with a steel body, it featured several competition features like the open air-intake and external fuel filler. It was finished in grey with a dark red interior. Gray took delivery of the car early in 1961 and would only own it for a few months before trading it back with Chinetti for a Mercedes-Benz 300 SL. It changed ownership several times more before it was acquired by John M. Lundin in 1965. By that time, it had been re-painted red. By 1972, it joined the stable of noted Ferrari enthusiast David Seielstad. During his three decades of ownership, it was comprehensively restored but once again painted red. In 2003, it was shown at Pebble Beach and in 2006, it was sold to a British collector. It was then restored by DK Engineering and re-finished in its original colour-scheme. In 2015, it returned to American ownership and has been shown with great success in events on both sides of the Atlantic. Event though it is a regular concours winner, it has also completed the Colorado Grand road rally.
