Chassis: 0496M
Completed early in 1955, this 750 Monza was sold new to Spanish gentleman racer Marquis Alfonso de Portago. He debuted the car at Sebring and also campaigned it in the Goodwood 9 Hours with Mike Hawthorn as his co-driver. De Portago's best results with the car came at Nassau where he won the Governor's Trophy outright. Chassis 0496M was then sold to the United States where successive owners campaigned the Ferrari through to the 1960 season. Shortly after its contemporary racing career, the four cylinder engine was replaced by an American V8. During the 1970s, it joined a French collection and was restored around a bored out Ferrari 500 Mondial engine. In the late 1980s, it joined the Dubbini collection and by the early 2000s, it fittingly, was acquired by a Spanish collector. He campaigned the car in the Mille Miglia retrospective and during the mid 2010s had it comprehensively restored once more. It was finished completed with the 'flames' on the nose as used by Alfonso de Portago at its Sebring debut.
