The first of two new 935s built by Porsche for the 1977 season, this car was entered in the Mugello 6 Hours for Jochen Mass and Jürgen Barth. The car qualified on pole but the race ended early due to an accident. Not repaired in period, the remains and innumerable spare parts were eventually acquired by American Porsche enthusiast Kerry Morse in 1990. He did not get around to restoring the car and sold it on to Freisinger Motorsport. The German specialists did get around to restore the car and it finally re-appeared at the 2018 Le Mans Classic where it was driven by Porsche works driver Romain Dumas.
