Chassis:
Built new for the 2002 season, this 550 GTS Maranello was first used for the Le Mans test. It was then raced at Le Mans by Rickard Rydell, Tomas Enge and Alain Menu where a fire ended the charge early. Later that year, Tomas Enge and Peter Kox drove the car to a class win in the Laguna Seca round of the American Le Mans Series (ALMS). During the first months of 2003, it was raced by Luc Alphand Adventures before being returned to Prodrive for a second ALMS campaign. With Jan Magnussen and David Brabham at the wheel, it won its class at Road America and Laguna Seca, while Darren Turner joined Brabham to score a victory in the Miami round. It was then returned to Europe where Turner and Jamie Davies won the GTS class at the Le Mans 1000 km. In 2004, it was only raced at Le Mans where it finished ninth overall and third in class. During the 2005 season, it was campaigned in the FIA GT Championship by Russian Age Racing, and it made its final appearance at Le Mans in 2006. Retained by Care Racing Development for another decade, it was restored to its 2004 Le Mans configuration. One of the first sold to a private collector, chassis CRD03 has more recently been campaigned at select events in Europe. In 2023, it was consigned as one of the headliners of RM Sotheby’s Monterey sale.
