Chassis:
The fifth one built, this 550 GTS Maranello was readied for the 2003 Sebring 12 Hours where it was entered for Anthony Davidson, Darren Turner and Kelvin Burt. The talented pairing finished an impressive second in class and 13th in class. The same drivers lined up with 108612 at Le Mans where a wheel bearing failure sadly ended the race early while running second in class. Alain Menu, Peter Kox and Tomas Enge had more luck with this car at the Petit Le Mans where it placed fifth overall and first in class. For the 2004 season, the car was leased to Larbre Competition, who used to win the GTS class in all four rounds of the Le Mans Endurance Series. At the 24 Hours of Le Mans, it finished fifth in class. Larbre continued to race the car through to the 2007 season, adding two further class wins to its tally. In 71 races, it scored seven class wins, 20 podium finishes and had a 96% finishing rate. Like all Prodrive 550 GTS Maranellos, it was retained by Care Racing until it was finally offered for sale during the mid-2010s. Sold through Girardo & Co. to a noted American collector, it is in fact the first example that entered private ownership.
