Chassis:
Through Newport Imports, this 288 GTO was sold new to Renee Ceryl West in June of 1985. It was returned to the dealer just a few months later with 579 miles on the odometer. The next registered owner was collector Bob Pond, who acquired the car in 1994. The car remained in his collection through to 2007, when it was acquired by a New York-based businessman. It changed hands again in 2010 and was then consigned to the 2019 RM Sotheby's Arizona sale with just 2,900 miles on the odometer. Chassis 56761 sold for just under $3.4 million, which made it the top seller of the auction.
