Chassis:
The third of three Mk IIIs built in 1995, this chassis was sold new to Payne Racing. They fielded the car with an Oldsmobile V8 for owner Lee Payne co-drivers Brian Williams and Ross Bentley from the summer of 1995. Campaigned through to the end of 1996 by Payne Racing, the best result was a second in the 1996 Texas 500 Miles with Ross Bentley and Anthony Lazzaro behind the wheel. Chassis 003 was then sold to an Italian team, who initially raced the car with the Oldsmobile engine but later switched to a Chevrolet small-block V8. Campaigned through to the 2002 season, it was also briefly fitted with a Ford V8 before switching back to Chevrolet power for the final outings. It has since been restored to the colours used during the 1998 season when it was campaigned in Europe.
