Chassis:
The early history of this 3rd series 750 GT Coupe is not known but by the early 1970s it was owned by architect and university proefessor Harris J Sobin. In 1992, he showed the car at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. Sobin was disappointed not to have won an award and started a ground-up restoration. To ensure everything was correct, he spent many years sourcing period spare parts. By 2010 and with the car still in pieces, the 750 GT was sold on. The next owner finally had the work completed under the supervision of noted Abarth specialist Jay Armstrong. Period correct in almost every respect, it was ready in time for the 2011 Palo Alto Concours where it won its class. It was then also shown during the 2011 Monterey car week before passing to the Key Collection in January of 2012. From this formidable stable it was consigned to the 2019 Bonhams Members' Meeting sale.
