Chassis:
Finished late in 1972, this was the first 911 Carrera RSR to receive an 'R' serial number. Finished in Marlboro colours, 'R1' was entered in the 1972 Tour de Corse for Bjorn Waldegard and Hans Thorszelius. Sadly, an accident ended the two Swedes' charge early. Once repaired, it was used for testing but was not raced again. It was sold and eventually surfaced with dealer John Starkey as a restoration project in 2014. It was repatriated to Europe and comprehensively restored. Early in 2019, it was acquired by a prominent French car enthusiast and was raced in the Tour Auto by his son, and was later also demonstrated at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
