Chassis:
One of 34 BMW 507s exported to the United States, this car was reportedly sold to a Hollywood producer through Hoffman Motors. It was subsequently sold to a Jackson, Mississippi architect. During this period, it was spotted by a young man named William Young. It was the start of a lifelong enthusiasm for the brand. By the 1980s, he had become a successful businessman in his own right and when he saw an ad for a 507 in Road & Track magazine, he acquired the car sight unseen. Amazingly, it turned out to be the very 507 he had come across some two decades earlier in Jackson. Chassis 70134 would remain the centre piece of his collection, which contained 30 important classic BMWs, for nearly three decades. Still in highly original condition, it was finally sold on in March of 2014 and was subsequently restored to its original configuration. As part of the 'Poster Car Collection,' it was then consigned to the 2020 RM Sotheby's Paris sale.
