Through Swiss distributor Monteverdi, this six-carburettor, short-nose 275 GTB was sold new to Siegfried Zwimpfer. He raced the car extensively in hill-climbs, road races and rallies. In April of 1966 Zwimpfer was joined by Hans Illert to take a class win in the Monza 1000 km. He continued to race the car with considerable success until September of 1967. It was then sold to Pierre Sudan, who carried on where Zwimpfer left off, scoring class wins in hill-climbs as late as the summer of 1968. The car's lengthy racing career finally came to an end when Sudan crashed the car on his way to a ditch. It was restored in Switzerland and sold to Conrad Waser. He would retain the car through to 1994, and it has since had just two owners, when it was consigned to the 2020 Artcurial Retromobile auction. Offered from a single ownership of 20 years, the most raced 275 GTB topped the sale at €2.5 million.
