Chassis:
Through Carl Haas, the North American Lola distributor, this T165 was sold new to American racer Jack Hinkle. He campaigned the car extensively, and with some success, throughout the 1970s. In 1989, it was even raced by Paul Newman during an event at Heartland in Topeka, Kansas. During the early 1990s, it was extensively restored by Bruce Canepa. It was fitted with a correct, 1970 specification big-block Chevrolet V8 that was rated at 900bhp. Early in 2020, it was consigned to the RM Sotheby's Amelia Island sale where it sold for three times the low estimate at $665,000 all-in.
