Chassis:
Completed late in 1965 and prepared by Autodelta, this right-hand-drive was sold new to Knauz Continental Autos of Lake Forest, Illinois. It was then entered in the inaugural SCCA Trans-Am series for Horst Kwech and Gaston Andrey. With class wins at Mid-Ohio, Road America, VIR and Green Valley, the Australian and Swiss pairing helped Alfa Romeo score enough points to win the manufacturers' championship. Kwech also qualified for the American Road Race of Champions held at the end of the season at Riverside. He was very successful and won the B-Sedan National Championship and the SCCA President's Cup.
Following the hugely successful season, it was sold on to John Martino from Illinois. The next owner was Tom Blank, who continued to race the car, competing in a further 30 SCCA events. The car moved back to Illinois in 1974 and joined the long-term ownership of Paul Spruell in 1985. He had the car restored and competed in historic races during the late 1990s. Chassis AR75648 was then acquired by Robert Lee in 2007, who had the car restored to its 1966 specification and colours. He continued to campaign the car in events like the Monterey Motorsports Reunion.
The next custodian bought the car in 2013, and then consigned to Gooding & Co. for a private treaty sale in the spring of 2020.
