Chassis:
Ordered new in December of 1926, this Type 37 was sold to an enthusiast from the Southwest of France. The car remained in the country for the first three decades of its life. By the early 1950s, the Type 37 resurfaced in the Provence and it was then sold to American enthusiast Peter Larkin in 1958. He would go on to own the rare Bugatti for over six decades, through to his passing in 2019. In 2016 he reportedly stated that he still drove chassis 37227 every Sunday, weather permitting. From Larkin's estate, the car was eventually consigned to the January 2021, Gooding & Company Scottsdale auctions.
