Chassis:
Completed late in 1960, this left-hand drive DB4 GT was sold new to a Swiss enthusiast through Garage Hubert Patthey of Geneva. During the late 1960s, the original owner sent the car to Carrozzeria Frua for some cosmetic and mechanical updates. The original four-speed gearbox was swapped for a more reliable ZF five-speed as found in the DB5, a DB6 style rear body was fitted and two rear seats were added. The car was sold shortly thereafter and was then acquired by Robin Tait in 1969. He would own the car for over two decades before eventually selling it on to noted collector William E. Connor II. He commissioned John Williams to carry out a complete restoration to the DB4 GTs original configuration. Connor would own the car for seven years and it was later also owned by Dutch historic racer Karsten Le Blanc and well known Aston Martin enthusiast Peter Livanos. It entered a longer term ownership in 2013 and was subsequently restored once again by Aston Martin specialists R.S. Williams. As part of the £400,000 project, a correct four-speed gearbox was fitted once more and the engine was enlarged to 4.7 litres. Early in 2021, the entire collection was consigned to the online-only Gooding & Co. European Sporting & Historic Collection sale.
