Chassis:
One of the very last 300 SL Roadsters built, this car was commissioned by German businessman Kurt Barnekow. He would own the car into the 1990s and it was subsequently acquired by noted collector Peter Livanos. During his ownership, it was shown at the 2005 Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este. The next custodian was Etienne Veen, who entrusted the car to Swiss specialists Pichler for a complete restoration. It was then briefly owned by William Ainscough before being sold to another British collector. Along with the restored of his stable, he consigned the 300 SL Roadster to the 2021 Gooding & Co. European Sporting & Historic Collection sale.
